Kanika A photogenic and peaceful face, Mrs.Divya Shyam Radhakrishnan alias Kanika was born on 3rd July 1982 in Madurai, Tamil Nadu. Her screen name includes Kanika in Tamil and Malayalam, Shravanthi in Telugu and Kannada films. She is the second daughter to the Engineer couple Mr. and Mrs.Venkatasubramanian. She did her schooling in T.V.S. Matriculation Higher Secondary School, Madurai. An Intelligent, smart girl Kanika was a treasured student in T.V.S. and bagged the Tamil Nadu State Award for Educational Excellence in 1999. She made her sweet voices count through pop music and light shows during her school days. She created waves of beauty by winning the crown of Miss. Madurai in 1999. She graduated B.E. (Mechanical) from BITS Pilani. She married Actor Shyam Radhakrishnan in 2008.
She was the runner up in Miss. Chennai 2001. Director Susi Ganesan who witnessed the show approached her for his film Five Star. Her film career bloomed in her debut “Five starâ€. But she shunned offers from people like Shankar, P.C.Shreeram and Cheran to pursue her studies. Her academic records stood admirable and astounding. She came back with remarkable performance in movies like Varalaru and Autograph. To prove her versatility, she did a comedy role in her film Aethiree. She paired with the one legged actor Kutty in the film Dancer. She indulged in singing the theme song of the film Five Star. She dubbed for Actresses Jenelia in Sachin, Sadha in Anniyan and Shriya in Shivaji. She works in all South Indian Languages making her truly a Southern Spice Actress.
